A guber aspirant under the defunct Alliance For Democracy (AD) in 2007 Rivers State gubernatorial election, Adonye Omubo People has urged Rivers people to be mentally prepared to choose their leader, a leader who will equitably develop Rivers State with the state resources.
The former guber aspirant said for peace to reign, Rivers people should be mentally prepared to allow the best to rule the State.
According to him, Rivers people are not mentally prepared to look for a leader and allow that leader to emerge no matter where he comes from, as long as he will develop the state equitably.
Commenting on whether it is the turn of the riverine people to produce the next governor, he said they should be prepared to give Rivers people their best candidate in order not to abuse that opportunity given to them, and not just to give Rivers people anybody.
He maintained that the candidates coming out to rule Rivers State from any section of the state should be also ready to equitably develop Rivers State.
He disclosed that he is looking forward to leading Rivers people one day. He is looking for that opportunity someday.
According to him, he is not saying that he must rule the people of Rivers State now and that someday he will seek for the opportunity to lead Rivers people, pointing out that he has all what it takes to take that chance, but it must not be a do or die affairs.
He admonished Rivers people to choose their leader by conscientiously and not being bought over by someone with sugar coated tongue or money. ####
