Arch Bishop (Dr.) Friday Nwator has said that he never served in the post amnesty committee, not to talk of collecting N60m from the Rivers State government as alleged by one Cornelius Dickson an ex-militant, that he embezzled the said sum of money meant for their rehabilitation.
Bishop Nwator was reacting to a publication in the National Network Newspaper of 4/9/2013 to that effect.
The man of God who said he was bitter about the unfounded allegation, wondered why a newspaper should choose to publish outright falsehood just to tarnish his image for reasons best known to the organization.
He narrated how he risked his life during the militancy era in the Niger Delta just to bring peace to the region and preserve the lives of innocent Niger Delta youths who were tagged criminals and were to be killed by the government.
Dr. Nwator who is the President of International Integrity Bishops, and faithful ministers said he has spent so much to bring sanity to the Christendom, wondered why people should be out to blackmail him, instead of showing gratitude for the role he played to restore peace in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
The man of God said what is happening now politically was what happened during militancy when he was the lone voice that championed the sustainable peace that remains in the Niger Delta till today. Corroborating the bishops position, Mr. Abam Jones Rufus, the President of Repentant militants in Rivers State called for the arrest of the people responsible for the mischievous publication, stressing that the only target of the originators of the publication is to tarnish the hard-earned image of Bishop Nwator who he said staked all he had for their sake to bring peace to Niger Delta region. ###
