News available to The Newswriter Sports desk has it that the Commissioner for Sports, Rivers State, Hon. Fred Igwe was shot at Akpajo, when he was passing through to Eleme his country home.
The information has it that unknown gunmen attacked the commissioner, for reason yet to be established.
Confirming this, the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Angela Agabe, said she got the information through her men at Akpajo divisional police post and that the command has drafted officers to the scene. She assured that the culprits will be apprehended soonest.
Meanwhile, the commissioner was said to have been admitted in a nearby clinic and is responding to treatment.
