NOA Intensifies Grassroots Sensitization On FOI

The State Director of National Orientation Agency Rivers State, Mr. Oliver Wolugbom has called on the people of the State to take advantage of the grassroot public sensitization exercise taking place in all the local government areas of the State.

The NOA boss made the call while addressing Chief Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) of the 23 LGA in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Wolugbom explained that from Wednesday 21st August, to Wednesday 28th August 2013 COMOs will visit communities in their various LGA to sensitize the people on the salient features of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) as well as expose the citizens’ right to access information in all public institutions.

The NOA Director appealed to community leaders, CDCs, heads of ministerial and extra-ministerial departments, Agencies in the local government areas, women and youths to give necessary support to NOA officers to enlighten the people.

Mr. Wolugbom also said it is important for all government agencies and offices in the local government areas to have desk officers on FOI Act to enable the public access information. ###
