The just concluded assignment by the Hon. ThankGod Osinachukwu Ideozu led performance and Evaluation Committee of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has claimed some frontline members of the party and loyalists of the governor Amaechi faction for what it described as affront, insubordination and lack of respect to the party.
The performance and evaluation committee of the party had submitted its reports with recommendation among others for the expulsion of erring members that may take the party for granted.
Before the expulsion of the Secretary to Rivers State Government, George Feyii, Chief of Staff, Tony Okocha and commissioners, the State PDP, chairman Felix Obuah had said that, the state delegates to the PDP special national convention was reduced by 28, occasioned by the suspension of the governor and 27 Assembly members.
The state chairman noted that, there will be further meeting of all delegates with the party, pointing out that the state delegates for the convention was 133 but reduced by 28 leaving it all at 105.
He assured party faithful that the stage is now set for all delegates traveling to Abuja, stating that all have been put in place waiting for the D-day.
According to Bro. Obuah as fondly called, LG Party Chairmen other delegates and those absent at the meeting will reconvene before the convention date.
However, the Convention Uniform has been given to all delegates present.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike had debunked claims from many quarters that he has abandoned his office for Rivers politics, saying that he is always in office from Mondays through Fridays but return to the state to take care of his family and family members.
He has also decried the attitude of some who do not want to set eyes on them in their own state, positing that they are only been afraid, hence the brand name, ‘Abuja politicians’.
Wike has strongly reaffirmed that PDP’s determination is to win in Rivers State in the next election, therefore their effort in repositioning the party for the challenges, ahead.
The Education Minister, who commended the committee, said he was at the secretariat to answer the invitation of the party which seeks to know his performance as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The State chairman of the party had however named delegates for the special convention to include the state governor, Assembly members, LG party chairmen, and others, but regretted that the governor and 27 lawmakers who are under suspension will not be attending the convention. ###
