Rivers Muslims Advocate Peace Over Jonathan, Amaechi Rift

PRESIDENT GOOODLUCK JONATHANWorried over the ceaseless feud which caused crisis rocking the state for the past five months, the Muslim in Rivers State have called on both parties to eschew violent and embrace peace to allow development thrive in the state.

The Muslims made the call while in separate chat with journalists to mark end of the Ramadan fasting and “Eid Al fitr festival in Port Harcourt.

Alhaji Sani Seidu, the Iman of Gambia mosque who expressed dismay over the rift allegedly between President Goodluck Jonathan and Gov. Amaechi noted that their differences has created a bad atmosphere in Rivers State which if not properly settled would cause more trouble in the state.

He called on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leadership both national and state not to take side in the matter rather should resolve their differences amicably praying that God should enthrone peace and harmony in the state to ensure development.

He further advised the reconciliation committee of PDP to go beyond reconciliation of the rich rather they should extend their reconciliation to all members who are aggrieved with one another.

Alhaji Seidu lauded governor Amaechi for his developmental strides across the state stressing that the Muslims are very supportive of his administration and demands that he should empower them in such a way that they can empower others.

In his view Alhaji Halliru Sakin Mallamani, the Rivers State Head of the Islamic scholars and the Secretary General Muslims Congress who thanked God for the successful Ramadan fasting and Eid-El-Fitr prayed to Allah to intervene in the alleged rift between president Goodluck Jonathan and Gov. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi stressing that Allah should enthrone peace in Rivers State to ensure development and business thrive in the state.

Sheik Abubakar Danasabo the chairman League of Imams chapter in Rivers State said the Ramadan fasting ceremony serves as a sober reflection time for the Muslims.

According to him, the Ramadan month teaches Muslims more of moral teaching, which contains a lot of blessing better than one thousand gifts, important of unity, peace than divinity and violent, spiritual upbringing rather than self-centered.

The Imam league chairman who noted that people living on earth  temporarily believed that there shall be a judgment some day in which no lawyer can defend anyone, urge Muslims and others to follow the footstep of Mohammed to achieve their spiritual targets.

He debunked insinuation that the Muslims supports and sponsor Boko Haram sect stressing that a true Muslim cannot kill because it was writing in the Quran that if “You kill one soul, you have killed the whole mankind, while if you save one soul, you have save the whole mankind”. ####
