Okocha, Wele Lambast Wike Group… As RIVLEAF Sensitises Obio/Akpor LGA

The Chief of Staff government House, Hon. Tony Okocha and the president Rivers Leadership Advancement Foundation (RIVLEAF), Alex Wele has lambasted the political group belonging to the Hon. Minister for Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike, the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), describing it as ‘Group of Dull Ingrates’.

Okocha dropped the bombshell at the sensitization/inauguration of RIVLEAF Obio/Akpor LGA chapter, ward executive and the elders council at our lady of Lourds, Ozuoba Grammar School, on 9th August, 2013.

Hon. Okocha stated that the issue of Obio/Akpor LGA is critical to people like Barr. Nyesom Wike and his group because they use the LGA as a conduit pipe to siphon the council’s funds, hence the fight for the soul of Obio/Akpor LGA.

According to the Chief of Staff, as a former caretaker committee chairman, he has in the past unraveled some of the wrong practices in the financial system of the LGA.

Hon. Okocha said he has adopted all the beautiful suggestions at the occasion, but stated that those whose kernel were cracked by the benevolent spirit are to be humbled as in the case of the Minister of Education Barr. Nyesom Wike.

He stated that those who claimed to be great, wealthy and brave were only made by the grace of God and they need not to be boastful.

The former caretaker committee chairman of Obio/Akpor maintained that those in affluence today are just by what he called miracle or providence and should not think is by their power, while dismissing the claim that since he left government house that nothing has happened as fallacy.

He said the position of a chief of staff is just a Personal Assistant to the governor and it is not correct to say that the Chief of Staff then could have driven the development of the state.

Okocha explained further that Wike’s wealth all come from politics, through primitive accumulations of wealth and challenged the Minister of State for Education to a public debate.

In his welcome speech, the Chairman Care-taker Committee, Obio/Akpor LGA Hon. Chikordi Dike told the crowd that Wike’ threat is an empty one, as he cannot fight only Obio/Akpor alone not to talk of the entire state.

Dike said the people are happy with the governor even as his administration is performing in the area of supporting the youths noting that they have provided a bus to them recently and the free medical services to the people of the LGA.

Earlier, the RIVLEAF president Hon. Wele lambasted Barr. Wike for telling Rivers people that, “he will make sure that they sleep with their eyes open, a similar statement he (Wike) condemned in 2011 against Dr. Abiye Sekibo when he Barr. Wike was the Director General of Gov. Amaechi Campaign Organization.

He said those his unguided and reckless threats are uncalled for and he should not forget so soon.

Hon. Wele stated that Wike’s threat of fire and brimstone might undermine the current reconciliation between the governor of Rivers State and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while calling on the security agencies to note the utterances of Barr. Wike.

The RIVLEAF president said it is on record that while Wike was the Chief of Staff government house; he denied people’s access to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.

He described the type of politics played by the Minister for State as a showbiz politician and a comic entertainer who is playing to the gallery for easy identification.

In his remark the chairman of the occasion, Ike Chinwo stated that there is a great improvement in some communities of Obio/Akpor LGA within this short period of the caretaker committee government led by its chairman, Hon. Chikaodi Dike.

The former house of Representatives member stated that one of the problems of Nigeria is leadership and it seems to be failing.

He said rule of law should be respected in any democracy, while commending RIVLEAF for their true position on leadership.

He maintained that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has shown himself a true leader, hence the developmental strides in the state. He stated that the governor of Rivers State represents that true democracy.

The president of RIVLEAF Hon. Wele had earlier inaugurated the Obio/Akpor chapter of RIVLEAF, the ward executive and the advisory council.

In his acceptance speech, the foundation chairman RIVLEAF Obio/Akpor LGA, Mr. Rejoice Wali has stated his executives commitment to serve diligently.###
