Police Has Not Been Fair To Us- Legborsi

HON. LEGBORSI NWIDAADAA member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Khana Constituency 1, Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah has accused the Nigeria Police, Rivers State Command and the State Commissioner of Police Mr. Joseph Mbu Joseph of not been fair to the 27 Assembly members that are loyal to the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Legborsi made this disclosure at the recent inaugural meeting of Ascension High School Alumni Association, held at Millennium Hotel, Eleme, saying that the continued detention and maltreatment meted on Hon. Lloyd, the Leader of the State House of Assembly was a clear indication of Police bias in the on-going political crisis in the state.

He wondered why Hon. Lloyd who was treated with respect in Abuja, should be blind-folded back to his state like a common criminal, which he is not, adding that the police undermined the house immunity which is due to Lloyd, according to him.

On the takeover of the State House of Assembly by the National Assembly, Legborsi described it as a satisfactory move that will ensure that peace returns to the State House of Assembly. The House Committee Chairman on Social Welfare/Rehabilitation and Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), described the era in the state as that of impunity that will cause more political havoc in the state, if not checked.

The lawmaker described the issue of Lloyd as pathetic, called for peace among lawmakers, saying that even though the takeover of the house was for the interest of peace, noted that it could not be better than they (lawmakers) working together for the best interest of their respective constituencies, and the state in general, especially on matters of urgent importance.

Nwidadah believes that the only way forward in resolving the crisis is for a neutral committee that will comprise elders and party members of the state, to be set up to harmonize all aggrieved members, which he said was the position of his constituency.

He noted further that the whole action that is taking place in the state was a ploy to deny the Ogonis the opportunity of producing the next governor of the state in 2015, which they, including the Kalabaris have not tasted despite the former governor, Ada-George.

He said that the Ogonis are supporting the government of Governor Rotimi Amaechi, for his developmental strides in their area, urging everyone in the state to continue to support the governor until he finishes his administration.

On the inaugural meeting of the Ascension High School Eleme Alumni Association, Legborsi explained that the day marked a new beginning, as they gathered to have a formidable body to move to the national, adding that the association has been existing at different chapters in the state and the need for them to support the growth of the mission school, which was formerly boys, but now a mixed school.

The presiding chairman of the Alumni inauguration, Chief Godwin Oloka, opined that the meeting was to concretize their quest to have a national body, expressing optimism that the outcome of the meeting will lead to their aspirations.

Oloka disclosed that the Association High School has produced people of rank and file in the state and the nation at large, adding that the time has come for them to go national and the need to network among members. He promised to reach out to other members of the Alumni before their next meeting.###
