It was jubilation galore at High Court 3 of Rivers State, where a land dispute between the people of Egwede town and Ayama-Agana, both in Andoni LGA of Rivers State was decided by Hon. Justice Iyaye in favour of Ewede people.
Speaking with The Newswriter immediately after the judgment, HRH. N. L. Ayuwu Iraron JP, Ede-Obolo II described the people of Egwede as people that could be found all over the world, adding that they are the headquarters of Andoni as Obolo people.
The chairman of Eminent Rivers people, urged the general public to read the textbook of Prof. A. Alogoa amongst others, on the history of Obolo people. He disclosed that the case was as a result of a settled boundary matter which prompted Egwede, Obolo people to grant refuge and land to the people of Ayama-Agana which they subsequently claimed to be theirs.
Ede Obolo expressed gratitude to God that justice has prevailed on a matter that started since 2008, having gone through two judges before its final ruling (yesterday Wednesday 24th July, 2013) by Hon. Justice Iyaye. He however, assured of their resolve to live in peace with the people of Ayama-Agana, irrespective of the out-come of the matter at court 3.
Former S. A. to the first governor of Rivers State, maintained that they cannot desert the people of Ayama-Agana from the land, but urged them to respect the law of the land, live in peace with one another and do away with festish activities and embrace God.
Ayuwu said they have accepted the judgment in good faith and will extend their hands of fellowship to everyone. He explained that there is hope for the judiciary as the last hope of a common man, stating that there was properly assessment of documents and evidence that convinced the judge to rule in their favour. He further advised the youths to continue to maintain peace and order in the community, especially in jubilating home as regards the court ruling, adding that he will continue to sue or peace as a product of intelligence, Ayuwu added. ###
