Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has appealed to politicians to desist from acts capable of distracting his administration but instead support its efforts at developing the State. Governor Amaechi said this while addressing youths from the 23 local government areas of the State on a solidarity visit to him in Government House, Port Harcourt recently.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the Governor said ” we will appeal that every Rivers man and woman who loves this State should help the Rivers State Government put more projects on the ground and reduce the distraction,” adding that, “since we came on board, our interest have been projects, projects, projects. These are projects that touch on the lives of our people”.
Commending the good conduct of the youths, Governor Amaechi noted, “one of the beautiful things we have done in this State in the last six years is to instill discipline in our youths and to make the youths of this State come to the government to lay their complaints when they are angry, instead of carrying guns or going into the creeks”.
In his speech, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree admonished the youths to be law abiding, stating that the House of Assembly is in order, emphasising that five members cannot impeach the Speaker, and encouraged them to support Governor Amaechi. Earlier, some of the youths who spoke at the event noted that Governor Amaechi has brought peace to the State, stating that they have come to show their unflinching support for the Governor and called on him to keep up the good work
