The Rivers State schools sports committee has started scouting for budding talents in earnest to represent the state in the forth coming schools sports in Akwa Ibom State.
The committee has scheduled one day all secondary schools sports competition in two venues in a bid to discover talents to represent the state at Akwa Ibom.
This information was made available to the sporting press via a sports radio program by the media officer of the Rivers State schools sports committee, Segun Precious.
According to him, two venues will be busy with the task of discovering those talents that will at the end of the day represent Rivers State at Akwa 2013, come November.
Rumukwuta Girls Secondary School and Port Harcourt Model Primary are the 2 venues billed to host the schools sports talents discovering program on the 19th of July 2013.
Nigeria schools sports is an annual sports program that allows Nigeria to discover budding hidden sports talents as to replace fading Nigeria sportsmen and women in future international sports meet.
Nigeria has taken this particularly measure due to the woeful outing of her athletes at the last Olympic where Nigeria did not come home with even a bronze medal.
Rivers State hosted the last Nigeria schools sports at the state capital Port Harcourt, the annual sports programme was hosted in January due to the flood that rocked part of the country, Rivers State inclusive, during the period that the sports event supposed to be hosted.
Hence the program is being hosted by Akwa Ibom come November, 2013 now that things are normalized and the south-south have some breath of peace in its domain. ###
