The league of character club of Nigeria has honoured the presenter of Sport Didi, Mrs. Didi Phina Chidi of Rivers State Television for her outstanding contribution through her sports program.
Presenting the award letter to her, character comrade Christian Kokoriko said, Mrs. Didi Chidi is a shining example to the youths of Nigeria as she does not only conduct herself but extend her life in purposeful services to her immediate environment and the society at large, pointing out that a sports program that runs in Rivers State Television has impacted on many lives, most especially the youth and the womenfold.
According to character comrade Christian Kokoriko, Didi Phina Chidi was particularly chosen for the honour because of her untiring contribution to liberate the women fold in Africa through sports, adding that Didi Phina Chidi is the chairperson of African women sports journalists and has in no small measure given meaning to the sports journalism profession as away of informing, educating and entertaining. “It takes a woman of character to stand out in the public to champion a particular course without tarnishing ones image. This Didi Phina Chidi had successful done to the improvement of the society through her incisive educating and entertaining sports presentation. she is a role model to the girlchild in the society, therefore deserve this special honour and award of character.
He also used the medium to states that without character the society is lost hence his organization will be recognizing and honouring those who distinguished themselves in society building through their various field of discipline nationwide.
The league of character club is non-governmental organization cued to advancing the growth of society in nation building in moulding the character of the citizenry of Nigeria.
To promote peace and good neighbourliness, the organization resort to immortalizing Rivers State founding fathers and elderstatemen by naming football competition after them.
The organization organized and hosts President Soccer cup, elder Dappa Biriye soccer cup and late senator Melford Obiene Okilo annually to discover soccer talents among the Niger Delta states as well as to sustain the good memories of the late elder statesmen.
Responding Mrs. Didi Phina Chidi expressed joy for the honour by the league of character club of Nigeria, saying the honour and award will only motivates her to serve the society better, thanking the league of character club of Nigeria for honouring her in her selfless service to the society through her chosen discipline, promising to keep the flag flying always. ###
