Sanitation Authority Warns PH ResidentsAgainst Damaging Government Properties

The sole administration of the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority, Mr. Ade Adeogun has warned members of the public to stop destroying government properties, especially the refuse bins placed on the major roads to package refuse.

Mr. Adeogun gave the warning during this month environmental sanitation exercise in Port Harcourt.

According to him, out of 150 refuse bins place on major roads of Port Harcourt for the package of the refuse 29 of them have been damaged by the residents of Port Harcourt.

The sole administrator who spoke through one of his aids, Barr. Nkasi Wordu a legal practitioner attached to the sanitation authority expressed sadness over the scenario noted that the authority introduced the refuse bins to package refuse with the intention to rid off refuse littered in the streets of Port Harcourt metropolis also urged residents to cooperate with the government by protecting the refuse bins and clean there environments on daily basis to achieve government target of maintaining Rivers State as the most clean state in the federation.

Mr. Adeogun who noted that littering refuse on the street of Port Harcourt causes blockage of drainage which cause flooding, disclosed that the government had commenced enlightenment campaign to the public on how to ensure community voluntary.

According to him, resident are to have litter control culture that, when we start enforcement there will be no blame on us.

Similarly, Mr. Olalikan Ige the press officer attached to the sanitation authority who frowned at the manner in which refuse were littered in the street of Port Harcourt disclosed that the authority has 100% enlightenment to the public in that regard stressing that the best way was enforcement and defaulters prosecuted.

He warn those who go to church during sanitation hours to desist from such act stressing that going to church during such hours is to stop sanitation.

On the assessment of this month sanitation, Ige noted that the participation was improving, assessed it at 75% improvement and urge public to always cooperate with the authority to sanitize the state. ###
