The Rivers State Primary Health care Management Board has taken over the management and running of the Primary Health care centre in Ozuoba, Obio Akpor Local Government Area. The State Commissioner for Health Dr. Tamunoiyoriari Parker stated this while handing over the Ozuoba Primary Health Centre to the Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Health care Management Board, Dr. Claribel Abam at the Ozuoba Primary Health Centre in Port Harcourt.
Dr. Parker who said he will be consulting personally from 8am on Friday disclosed that the Health Centre was completed about two years ago but was not taken over by the State government because of contractual disagreements. ”We had to follow due process in doing our things; there were issues with the contractor who built this health Centre, now we have decided to take it over” the commissioner said and called on the people living at Ozuoba and its environs to utilize the health centre.
Responding, the Executive Secretary, Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board Dr. Claribel Abam said that work will resume at the health centre on Friday 5th July at 8 a.m and urged the Ozuoba people to make use of the facility as health personnel would be on ground to render medical services in full scale. Dr. Abam said “already we have staff that are working in the old Primary Health Centre Ozuoba, we will only have them resume work here tomorrow morning”. She encouraged the people to take advantage of the free medical programme of the state Government.
The Executive Secretary who took the staff on a facility tour of the centre also gave them a tutorial on the maintenance culture that is expected in the facility bearing in mind that the structure is a pre fabricated structure.
