Lawmaker Says There Will Be ‘Act 1 Scene 2′ Of Rivers Assembly Mayhem

A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Golden Chioma, who witnessed the mayhem that occurred in the Parliament on Tuesday, has explained that the lawmaker who was seen smashing the Mace on his colleague was initially ‘battered’.

According to him, Chidi Lloyd, the lawmaker seen smashing the mace, was initially battered but returned to the House to disrupt the wrongful sitting of five members who were using a wrong mace that was not of the Rivers State Assembly.

“That was not the mace of the Rivers State House of Assembly” he alleged.

He explained that Mr Lloyd had to batter the man seen in the video because “what they were doing was wrong. The House was not in session” he added.

Describing the video of the mayhem as ‘Act 1 Scene 1’; the lawmaker claimed the Assembly will soon release Act 1 Scene 2 of the mayhem which preceded the published fracas as recorded by the CCTV in the assembly.

According to him, the Speaker of the House had summoned members of the House to resume by 10am but five lawmakers that purportedly impeached the Speaker, arrived the assembly earlier and conducted a mock sitting.

He further states that the clique of five lawmakers led by Evans Bipi, attacked the other lawmakers and a camera’s tripod was hit on Chidi Lloyd, who returned to fight back.

When asked if the State Governor had the right to come to the House of Assembly during a session, Mr Chioma stated that “if the Governor did not come, what we will be saying now is How many dead, how many are injured.

He further adds that the Governor is a member of the House of Assembly for life once he has been voted in before as a member of the House.

The Rivers state Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, is a former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
