Works Commissioner, Hon. Victor Giadom has assured the residents of Port Harcourt metropolis that the construction work on Creek Road will not be abandoned. Fielding questions from newsmen in his office recently, Hon. Giadom explained that the foundation of the road is weak “we did not want to pretend that all was well with the road and lay asphalt on it, when we knew it would fail after some months”.
Hon Giadom reiterated the policy of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-led administration to deliver quality and durable roads, and bridges to the people of the State as their dividends of democracy. The Ministry of Works boss noted that, his Ministry decided to re-design the road to suite the state policy on roads/bridges construction and stressed that it will be properly dualized with modern drains and street lights. He, however, lamented the terrain of the State that limit construction period from December to March.
Hon. Giadom said that the situation has also made construction work difficult, expensive and with much delay. The Commissioner advised the people to exercise patience as construction work would soon commence on the road. He assured that his Ministry is “much more committed to its resolve at achieving the roads and infrastructure agenda of this administration”, including the Creek Road construction project.
