U-20 world cup: Flying Eagles thrash Cuba

Flying eagles defeated Cuba by 3-0 in their second group game

of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013 becoming the first Africa country to win a game at the competition.

The Nigeria lads who lost the first game 3-2 to Portugal came out strongly against Cuba and the deadlock was broken in the 19th minute when Aminu Umar fired in a shot from a close range.

He completed his brace with another strike in the 23rd minute to set  the tone for a convincing victory for Nigeria.

Kayode Olanrewaju would have made it 3-0 when he was face to face with Cuba goalkeeper Sanchez but decided to give a pass

which was blocked.

Team Captain Abdul Jeleel Ajagun made it 3-0 for Nigeria as he connected Kingsley Madu’s cross with a diving header in the 67th minute.

He failed to find the back of the net from the spot after Kayode Olanrewaju was brought down by Emmanuel Labrada.

The Cubans are no match for Nigeria as they did not have any clear cut at goal.
