PHALGA Organizes Debate Competition For Junior Secondary Schools

The Port Harcourt City Council is organizing a debate competition for Junior Secondary Schools in the L G A. According to a statement signed by the Deputy Mayor/Supervisor for Education Phalga, Hon. Nancy Stephens-Ijaopo, the competition will hold at the City Council Secretariat from the 20th to 25th of June, 2013. Hon. Nancy Stephens-Ijaopo stated that the event is being organized to help develop natural talents in our young ones.

Also the debate is meant to improve listening, communication skills and good command of the English Language among our youths. She said that sixteen schools in the LGA have been screened to participate in the competition. According to the Deputy Mayor, the event will be graced by the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Nemi who is the Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Samuel Eyiba, Local Government Affairs, the Chairman of the occasion, Sir Owene Wonodi, youth Development and Hon. Victoria Nyeche as guest of honour.

Mrs. Immanuela Izunwa former Commissioner of Women Affairs will be Judge of the event. The participating schools are Government Girls Secondary School, Orominieke, Community Secondary School, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Government Junior Secondary School Elekahia, Trans-Amadi and Community Secondary School, Amadi-Ama. Others are, Community Model Secondary School, Borokiri, Stepping Stone Group of Schools, Iverok International Group of Schools, Graceland International School and Community Secondary School, Abuloma.
