The newly inaugurated captain of the Port Harcourt Club 1928 Lawn Tennis section, Emma Obiora has said that his committee will do everything within its powers to encourage the growth of Lawn Tennis in the Port Harcourt club 1928 Lawn Tennis section.
Captain Obiora made this statement while answering questions from sports journalists during his exco inauguration ceremony at the Port Harcourt club 1928 Lawn Tennis section on the 13th of June, 2013.
The soft spoken newly inaugurated captain added that every member of the Lawn Tennis section will be encouraged to have equal quality play time. For children using the section facilities, he said, already the section is blessed with 2 lawn tennis academics, one handled by Stella Epegu and the other Hon. Tonye Ezekiel Harry. He said, club members will be encouraged to bring their children to learn lawn tennis free of charge.
Being out of school sports product, he said he will encourage the youth at school age to be more passionate with lawn tennis, stressing that the Port Harcourt club 1928 lawn tennis facilities are good enough to help youths learn the sport better and be productive; adding that his committee will make the facilities available to interesting participants of lawn tennis.
He also disclosed that his exco will embark on inter club lawn tennis matches, stating that the section was just returning from an international inter club lawn tennis competition in Gambia.
The inauguration was crowned with an American style lawn tennis one day tournament. All participants went home with a gift item.
Arinze Baba spiced the day with his meaningful rib cracking jokes to the admiration of all and sundry.
The ceremony brought together members of the section to a sound reunion, as past captains and members of the section that had not been seen for a reasonable period of time and had a good reunion.
