Rumuosonwo Community Gets New Executive, As Peace Returns

The Rumuosunwo community in Eneka, Obio/Akpor Local Government Council have appointed a new community development executive, to run the affairs of the community.

The appointment and inauguration ceremony was held at the palace of Chief Joel Worlu, at Rumuosunwo community.

Speaking immediately after the swearing-in, the newly appointed Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman, comrade Okey Waka said, “I want to say and prove to my people, that a leader is born, and a leader is he who knows the way, shows the way and also leads the way and to buttress it all, a leader is a servant to his people and not a master”.

Comrade Waka in his inaugural speech added, “therefore I implore my people to rally round my administration to rebuild our once peace loving and pace setting Rumuosunwo, which others come to see and emulate. Every body should forgive one another and forget the past omens in our community and embrace peace to foster in development in the village”.

Comrade Waka made it clear that he will focus on investment and development. “My leadership shall embark on development strides and investment to reposition a new era of Rurnunounwo. We shall transform our dear community that lost its glory in the past few years in the course of internal wrangling and take it to a greater height.

Presenting his agenda, Comrade Waka disclosed that his priority will be “to create the atmosphere of peace among the men, women, youths and reconcile every one, to name all the streets in the community, to create RUMUOSONWO INVESTMENT SCHEME, this is geared towards funds generation”.

He added that part of his agenda will include “to create a revenue market taskforce to generate fund for the progress of the community, land property management, business centre establishment, dedication of the community to God and road rehabilitation.

Also speaking, Chief Joel Worlu, the traditional ruler of Rumuosunwo community said “what is happening here today is to swear-in people that were elected to rule Rumuisunwo’. Chief Worlu charged them to work and restore the needed peace in the land, unity, so that according to him, the presence and the power of God will be visible in the community.

In their separate speeches, Mr. Christopher Nyegonum, Rev Humphery Waka, called for unity to usher in progress in the land.

Those elected are Okey Waka chairman, Emmanuel Worlu, vice chairman, Lasbry Nyegonum secretary, Humphery assistant secretary, Walace Worlu Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Ernest Worlum, Oluchi Nyegonum provost. ###
