The darling club of Port Harcourt, Rivers State is still not out of relegation zone.
All efforts to redeem Sharks’ image is yielding to nothing even with the new coach, Gbenga Ogunbote who has brought his expertise to bear in the club style of play campaigning for Nigeria Professional Football league.
More sadden is the situation that the team does not have a formidable attack and strike force. As if this is not enough, the midfield is lacking in creativity. Supposing Sharks have a creative midfield it would have enhanced its goal scoring chances. Most clubs today make do with the midfield to get their goals, where the attack is not producing result.
Lionel Messi of Barcelona is a midfielder, but scores most times to save Barca after doing enough creative work and after given some assistance for Barcalona if the goals are not coming from the attack.
This points to the fact that coach Ogunbote should better look into his midfield and do something to save his good name in the Nigeria Professional Football League from being tarnished by Sharks, that is if at the end of the 2012 Sharks is relegated.
Chance was given to coach Ogunbote to recruit his own choice of players at will to make Sharks better from when he took over as manager of the club.
Coach Ogunbote categorically stated that the players he met in Sharks are not league materials, hence he recruited his own choice players in week 9, bringing in players that he is sure that could effect a change or a bite in Sharks attack, but still nothing is happening. Though, Ogunbote new look Sharks does not have a convincing attack to maintain good position in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Sharks is still at the bottom of the Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL), drawing and losing at away, with no chance to swim out of her position.
Sharks should be winning all her matches or drawing some at intervals or forget to fight out of relegation zone.
It is only miracle that will save Sharks under Ogunbote from relegation, considering the way things are going, except Sharks will change her strategy in prosecuting the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League.
As it is now, winning her matches in both away and home is a must for Sharks, there is no two ways about it as relegation stares on the face of Sharks in week 14 and 15 matches she had played.
Being optimistic will not do the magic, win your matches and draw some to stay afloat in the Nigeria Professional Football League. ###
