President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said couples should appreciate the need to endure certain difficulties and make sacrifices to sustain their marital union. President Jonathan said this during the reception in honour of former Miss Njideka Odili, daughter of former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, and Mr. Uzoma Nwosu-Iheme, at the Abuja Event Centre, Abuja.
“You call yourselves honey, because honey is sweet, just like the sweet honey comes from the bees that stings, in relationships, there are also stings and it will definitely come,” the President said. Also speaking, the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, commended the couple for putting God first in their marriage,, asserting that, “I believe that God has blessed the marriage and I wish them a very wonderful and happy marriage”.
In his vote of thanks, the groom, Mr. Uzoma Nwosu-Iheme expressed appreciation for all those who supported and encouraged them to achieve a successful wedding. Mr. Nwosu-Iheme prayed God to bless them all, and assured that they would abide by the counsel that they were given. Dignitaries who attended the wedding include the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, Senate President, Senator David Mark, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Governors of Rivers, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Anambra, Mr. Peter Obi, Edo, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Rivers, Sir Celestine Omehia, former Gov. Of Bayelsa, Chief Diepreye Alamieseigha, and Cross Rivers States, Mr. Donald Duke, and his wife, Onari, amongst others.
