Perm. Secretaries Embark On Capacity Enhancement Abroad

PERM SEC GROUP FLOWING PIXTo improve the service delivery of the Civil Service, Rivers State Government has release the list of nine Permanent Secretaries who are to embark on a capacity enhancement programme in the United Kingdom.

The programme, is under the umbrella of the BRACED Commission.

Briefing the beneficiaries in his office, the Head of Service, Barr. Samuel LongJohn said the programme was in fulfillment of the promise made earlier by the Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to enhance the capacity base of workers in the State Civil Service.

Barr. LongJohn advised them to take full advantage of the programme, and utilize the knowledge gained for the benefit of the system.

”The programme is not intended to be jamboree. Ensure that you get the best by actively engaging yourselves in all activities so that at the end of it, the system will benefit from the knowledge you acquire,” Barr. LongJohn stressed.

He congratulated them for being the first batch of beneficiaries and expressed the hope that by the end of the year, a greater number of Permanent Secretaries would have had the opportunity to participate.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries Mr. Promise Njiowhor Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning thanked the Head of Service for his efforts at actualizing the promise made by the State Governor.

Mr. Njiowhor pointed out that the programme would expose them to new trends in the discharge of their duties.

He assured the Head of Service that they would make best of the opportunity for the benefit and growth of the Civil Service.

Other Permanent Secretaries in the first batch of the programme include Dr. George Nwaeke, Mr. Lambert Ekwueme, Mr. Emeka Wobisike, Dr. George Nwolu, Mr. Minabelem West, Dr. Someari Isaac-Harry, Mr. Alex Hart and Mr. Richard Ofuru.
