The Minister Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akin Adesina has encouraged farmers to register for the “Growth Enhancement Support Scheme” (GES) to be able to access fertilizer.
Dr. Adesina who disclosed this during the Lunching of (GES) Programme at Emohua local Government Area recently, said that the programme is to enable farmers increase their yields with the use of fertilizer.
Represented by Mr. Umoh Sampson, the Minister advised farmers to make good use of the fertilizer given to them to improve their yield.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Emmanuel Chindah said that the programme will also address the generational problem of unemployment in the State and sensitize farmers on improved farming technology to better their productions.
He also said that the programme seeks to lift poor farmers out of subsistence into self sufficiency.
Mr. Chindah disclosed that the State Government has registered a total of 32,879 farmers this year for the (GES) and advised farmers who have not registered to report at the Divisional Agricultural Office in the 23 Local Government Areas and the Headquarters of the State Agricultural Development Programme Rumuodomaya for registration.
