The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has commiserated with the family of Hon. Joe Poroma, the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Rivers State; over the death of his father, late Pa Philip Epbabari Poroma.
Speaking last Friday at the Funeral Mass in St. James Parish Kpite, Tai Local Government Area of the State, Governor Amaechi, through his representative, Engr. Tele Ikuru, State Deputy Governor, said that the death of a father is very painful, irrespective of how old he lived. He encouraged the family of late Poroma to take solace in God, since they know that their father lived a good life.
In the same vein, the Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese of Catholic Church, Rivers State, Most Rev. Dr. Cammilus Etukudo, added that it is a blessing for parents to live to see their grand children and commended the children for taking care of their father in his old age. Hr urged them to consolidate on the legacies he left behind.
In his response, the Chief mourner of the family, Hon. Joe Poroma said his father lived an honest life, pointing out that though he was not educated, he was but instrumental to the development of Kpite Community and thanked all that stood by them in their moment of grief.
Some of the dignitaries at the burial ceremony include: Secretary to the State Government, Hon. George Feyii, the Commissioners for Education, Sports, Environment, Finance, Works and Health, among others. ###
