Sanitation Exercise: Seventy Defaulters Arrested

 

Not less than seventy defaulters of the May environmental sanitation exercise were arrested by officials of the authority.

The sole Administrator of the Rivers State Environmental sanitation Authority, Mr. Ade Adeogun disclosed this while in a chat with journalist during this month environmental sanitation exercise in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Adeogun who noted that the residents of Port Harcourt compliance in this month sanitation exercise was better than the last month sanitation exercise encourage the public to put more effort in cleaning their environment on daily basis to make them healthy and prevent them from sickness which may lead them to death.

On why the sanitation authority never empower the police to force people on cleaning their environment on sanitation hours, he disclosed that the police do not act because the authority want to be civil on residents.

The sole administrator of the authority spoke through his press officer, Mr. Olalekan Ige.

According to him, if we apply force, it will look as if we are against them, what we preach is civil and not force, the residents ought to know the right thing to do.

He however called on the resident no to allow official of the authority to force them rather should ensure daily cleanliness in their surroundings.

Places visited include Rumuola, Woji town, Rumuebekwe, Mile 4, Artillery among others. ###
