The Rivers State Football Association (FA) secretary, Ibigoni Benjamin Akobo has told the media that the Rivers State Football Association has no fund to prosecute the final match of the state football Association between Sharks and Dolphins
According to him, it will not make sense to him that, that two state owned clubs have qualified to represent Rivers State at the federation level at the end there is no fund to prosecute the finals.
The Scribe of the FA also revealed that for over 6 years the state football Association has been managing to organize football competitions without the assistance of the Rivers State government.
He said that it is by the grace of God that his exco could still manage to organize the Super league and state challenge cup for over 6 years.
“What is surviving the FA to be alive in all these competitions is because of our logical managerial acumen” disclosing that sometimes the FA runs deficit after settling stakeholders in all these competitions.”
We must always pay the federation FA and try to come down to sort ourselves out in organization, either the super league, state challenge cup or the FA cup”.
Throwing more light on the issue, he said this year he was not even encouraged despite that there is no fund to play the finals between Sharks and Dolphins, there is no cash as incentives to motivate the players apart from the empty trophy which has made the final no longer interesting for his FA to coordinate the final match between Sharks and Dolphins in the state.
He said since both teams are state owned clubs sponsored by the state, why should his FA bother to go on with the final match between Sharks and Dolphins knowing that the duo are representing the state at the federation cup later in the year.
He regretted that he has never been carried along by the state Sports Ministry in all the federation cup for years, pointing out that under normal circumstances he should be the one to pay the qualification money on behalf of the state, and again, he is supposed to lead the delegation for whichever club that is representing the state in the federation cup.
As it is, apart from lack of fund, the scribe is not in the right frame of mind to prosecute the final match between Sharks and Dolphins football clubs to know a clear winner of the state football Association competition because according to him, there is no motivational cash prize to go with the trophy. ###
