Staff of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have all course to smile as they are one of the first to enjoy the jumbo pay administratively referred to as minimum wage to civil servants in the country and Rivers State in particular.
Workers under the agies of National Union of Local government employees, NULGE in the area were seen smiling during the workers day celebration last week, following the effort of the committed and workers’ friendly chairman, Sir. Hon. Orom Nte Ereforokuma in his determination to clear all outstanding workers arrears.
The ANOLGA council boss, Ereforokuma reiterated his administration desire and readiness to ensure that all entitlements of workers are paid without further delay, noting that workers deserves what belongs to them.
The council boss made the disclosure on the workers day while addressing workers and good people of Andoni.
The chairman, The Newswriter gathered is one of the first chairmen in the state to have implemented the payment of the Eighteen thousand naira (N18,000.00) minimum wage, a national issue and clearance of the 70% consolidated arrears.
The circular authorizing the payment of the said minimum wage from the state government, noted that arrears to such effect would be paid in three months as the case maybe, The Newswriter learnt.
In Andoni Local Government Council, the Hon. Orom Nte led administration did not waste any time implementing the decision of the federal government as adopted by Rivers State government.
So far the administration had paid off one and half months arrears, with an expectation to do justice to the remaining one and half months probably in May, 2013.
If information at our disposal is correct, then the council may not be owing its workers anymore when the outstanding arrears on the state 70% consolidated as well as the balance of one and half months minimum wages are cleared soon.
NULGE, however expressed appreciation to the executive chairman and urge him to do as said noting that the chairman is indeed a staff at heart.
In a similar development, the hungry and angry PDP ward executives in the area shall be grateful to God as their months of starvation and denial have come to an end.
The ward executives who were unhappy on the way they have been neglected by the Orom’s administration have now change their perception about the chairman as they were promised exciting packages and monthly allowances.
Hon. Orom had in a rally held recently promised to take care of the word exco of the PDP in the area by means of monthly allowances to enable them run the party effectively at their respective wards.
A chairman in one of the eleven wards of Andoni who pleaded anonymity whole thanking the executive chairman, Sir Orom, noted that they believed that their neglect was due to poor allocation accruing to the Local Government, expressing optimism with the chairman’s preparedness to carry them along as a welcome development.###
