Goldashe International Football Club, based in Port Harcourt on Saturday, 20th of April beat their counterpart in a return leg friendly match 2-1 at Goldashe ground, RSUST.
The encounter was to mark the burial activities of a Goldashe member, Professor Alex Chindah, who was a strong member of the club before his death. The first leg was played last year to mark the burial of their member, which ended 1-1 a piece.
The return leg which seemed like reforcement on the side of Rumukurushi All Stars Football Club stressed the team as they made serious effort to net their first goal at the 30th minute of the match.
Playing with their red colour jersey, took no for an answer, as they almost got their second goal through their striker. If not for the agility of Goldashe keeper who did justice to the goal bound kick from a corner kick, Rumukurushi All stars would have been licking their wounds.
All efforts from Goldashe to cancel the one goal deficit proved almost impossible, as winger Kinikanwo’s rampaging effort to level scores proved unfavourable, as his goal targeted shots went wild. The first half ended with Rumukurushi having a goal to their advantage while Goldashe goal records reads.
The second half started on a bright note for the host, as Goldashe’s Technical Adviser, and one time ex-Captain of Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Cyril Levi brought life into Goldashe side as if the custom made green on black jersey was washed with prayers, they became better in play till the combination of Bebeto and Kinikanwo finally found the back of the net of their Rumukurushi counterpart.
Goldashe was able to run away with victory by introducing seasoned strikers. Bello and Henry added colour to the game as all effort to outwit Goldashe at home was checked to the latter, 65th minutes of the game saw Goldashe forward got the much needed goal for Goldashe to claim winner of that particular encounter. ###
