One of the autonomous communities in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, Tombia Kingdom had in a well attended burial ceremony celebrated one of their own and mother, Late Madam Virginia Gogo Dickson Ediye Karibo in Abali compound at the age of 103.
It was a gallery of traditional and cultural ceremony that futured dignitaries from all walks of life including several groups and the Tombia Council of Chiefs to honour their late mother.
In a goodwill message delivered by the chief mourner, chief Ifuro Iyala Edi Abali the deceased was a mother of all and promoter the custom and traditions of Tombia kingdom and also known as a woman of generosity who shared her little thing with others.
Speaking to our correspondent who covered the event, Chief Abali disclosed that his late Aunty was so concerned about his welfare and showed much love to him as she did to her children and others, therefore the best honour, he can accord his late beloved aunt is to invite the highest traditional institution in Tombia kingdom, which is the Tombia council of chiefs as a member to honour her.
He also expressed satisfaction with the Ibinima Belema Ogbo of Tombia for joining him in the celebration of his late aunt’s burial celebration.
The first son of the deceased, Mr. Leonard Abbey also described his late mum as mother whom he finds difficult to forget as her past memories remain fresh, stating that she was the best Aminikpo dancer in Tombia kingdom.
Also speaking, first daughter of the deceased, popularly known as Mrs. Ndia Bite Wokoma who spoke via her daughter, Soboma Wokoma corroborated the claims of the chief and the first son, adding that one of the virtues that distinguished, her from others was that she ensured solution to both their problems, as well as others who came around her.
Meanwhile her body was finally laid to rest in Tombia after a befitting commendation service at St. Stephen Lutheran Church.###
