Stop Examination Malpractice, NOA Tells Opobo- Nkoro Students

The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr. Oliver Wolugbom has called on students, teachers and parents in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area not to be involved in examination malpractice.

The call was made at the council hall of the LGA during a one day public enlightenment programme on Raising Integrity Standard in the conduct of examination in Nigerian Educational system.

Mr. Wolugbom who was represented by the Head, Mass Mobilizaton Department Chief OL. Nkangwung-Asuk appealed to the students not to be involved in examination malpractice or patronize special centres, stating that examination malpractice would mar their future.

The NOA Boss enjoined the students to read, form study groups and set targets to read at least maximum of ten books during the Easter break as this will improve their performance. On that note, the students were made to pledge not to be involved in examination malpractice.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Maclean Bethel Uranta pointed out some of the limitating factors affecting the standard of education in the area, as lack of qualified teachers, difficult terrain, electricity and refusal of posting by some teachers, from the Education Ministry.

He further intimated NOA on some of the interim measures put in place by his administration to check examination malpractice in the area, to include payment of WASC and JAMB fee for all final year students, engagement of about one hundred National Youth Service Corps members as teachers and extra moral classes for the students. On that note, the chairman charged the students to make good use of the opportunity and promised to put a stop to examination malpractice in the area.

Also speaking, the secretary of council, Mr. Sunny Pepple stated that the fight against examination malpractice is the responsibility of all, students, teachers, parents and examining bodies. He enjoined everyone to resolve not to be involved in examination malpractice so that our nation will be rated among the great nations of the world. ####
