The Leader of the Legislative arm in Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Hon. Henry Odum has been commended for his kind gesture towards the people.
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Prince Timothy Nsirim gave the commendation at Rumuodamaya the Council Headquarters during an empowerment programme for youths and women from the area, recently.
Prince Nsirim urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given them and not to sell them out.
The Chairman also called on sons and daughters as well as corporate bodies operating in the LGA to emulate Hon. Odum by providing employment and empowerment for youths, no matter how small it may be.
In his speech the leader of the Obio/Akpor Legislative arm, Hon. Henry Odum thanked everyone present for honouring his invitation.
He added that the aim of the empowerment programme was to reduce youth restiveness and other social vices by engaging them in meaningful activities.
Hon. Odum advised the beneficiaries to be committed and manage the items properly for their own good.
The items presented are, Barbing kits, Hair dressing kits, Sewing Machines, Gas Cookers, Computers and Accessories with some amount of money as take-off grants.
Mr. Boniface Ejekwu responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the leader of the council for the kind gesture and promised that the items given to them would be put to proper use.
