Monarch Urges RIVSACA To Preach AIDS Continuously

The chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM King Godwin K. Gininwa has given his royal blessing to member of the Rivers State Action committee on AIDS for their persistence in the campaign against HIV/AIDS in the state comparing the campaign against AIDS to the gospel of Jesus Christ saying anyone who receive it will be save, urges them to continue the awareness campaign for every body in the state to refrain from what will make them to contact the scourge.

King Gininwa handed down this when the committee led by Dr. Chimenem Okey paid him an advocacy visit in his office last Wednesday asking the people of Rivers State to come back to their culture, costumes and tradition that made them respect and kept them from sexual moralities.

He blamed most of the trouble in the society on the way people has deviate from the African culture, though accepted that some of the tradition of the people that is not good should be change as the Sila syndrome in Ogoni has been stop for good.

Hearing that some people in the state are now into homosexual activities and that this is one of the possible way of contacting AIDS, the king described it as a crime and slap on the African way of life.

King Gininwa lauded the group for coming to his office and assured them space to lecture Royal fathers in the council forthcoming retreat so that they will take home the message to their subjects.

Earlier, the secretary of SACA in the state, Dr. Chimenem Okey said that AIDS has gone beyond health problem into social, economic problems among others and that was why they are looking for the assistance of traditional rulers for involvement since they are in position to pass the message to their subjects.

He further stressed that culture and tradition which the royal fathers represent should be properly use so that the people will pay some respect and make change of behaviour. ###
