To make good their threat Obio/Akpor Allstars International Social Recreational Football Club last Saturday for the second time beat Delta AllStars Football Club of Warri 2-1.
It would be recalled that the same Obio/Akpor Allstars International Football Club had in their first friendly encounter beaten Delta Allstars football club at Warri 1-0.
Forth months after, to that defeat Delta Allstars came prepared to reverse, but went down to 2-1.
Speaking to The Newswriter sports, the coach of Obio/Akpor Allstars football club, Chief Amadi Felix, said he likes challenges hence when his team beat Delta Allstars football at their home ground, he knew that they will come prepared to upset that defeat, hence he fortified the midfield against their slow response to attackers defence line which with the unity of the team and the professional advise of his technical adviser, Coach Stanley Eguma of Dolphins Football of Port Harcourt, his side was able to defeat Delta Allstars again in his home ground. The match was played at Akpor Grammar School Football’s pitch, Chief Felix attributed his side’s victory to hard work and unity existing in the club.
He also disclosed that apart from playing for fun, the everyday training keeps the members of the club healthy.
Having beaten Delta Allstars football club of Warri Chief Felix said his side is prepared to take any football club in the nation, saying that it is on record that Obio/Akpor Allstars international football of Nigeria is the first Allstars football club that had beaten Delta Allstars football club at the club own ground. He also highlighted the benefits of joining Obio/Akpor Allstars club.
He further revealed that for Obio/Akpor retired footballers to be relevant in the scheme of things in football, both in the state and in the federations. Obio/Akpor Allstars stands as enabling ground to encourage sports personalities amongst the sporting association and it likes, like refereeing, appointment of Allstars Association in the state, among others.
The Obio/Akpor Allstars, Chief Coach also revealed that his club has planned of bring the youths together in other sporting competitions in which sports personalities could be fished out to replace ageing ones, so as to hold important sporting positions in future either in the state or country.
Coach Eguma in his response stated that unity and hard work has put Obio/Akpor Allstars on the path of victory, adding that the club is an international club and has its training twice in a week.
The technical adviser of the club said he has brought his wealth of experience coupled with the influence of the chairman of the club, Chief Rowland Amewhule to keep the club going.
Chief Rowland Amewhule, chairman of Obio/Akpor Allstars International Football Club revealed that his sides victory over Delta Allstars is nothing than the act of God. So according to him, he is not surprise for the victory.
The state chairman of Delta Allstars, Warri, Amachree Charles, attributed his side’s loss to a normal phenomenon in football, sometimes you play well but you still lose, adding that he is not regretting for losing to Obio/Akpor. ###
