Commissioned on Monday 7th January, 2013 with the ever first registered patient Mrs. Lovelyn Obilor, the Rivers State owned Kelsey Harrison Hospital has recorded its first delivery last Thursday 7th March, 2013 at precisely 5.20am.
The first baby of the hospital has been named after the first lady of the State, Dame Judith Amaechi in honour of the governor’s efforts to provide quality health care delivery to residents of the State.
According to Dr. Sidney Ibeanusi, the management of the hospital were in agreement with the parents of the baby to name her after the governor’s wife.
Dr. Ibeanusi said the baby’s mother; Mrs. Lovelyn Obilor was the first woman to register for antenatal on the 7th January, 2013when the hospital was first opened. The baby weighed 3.4kg at birth and are doing well, Dr. Ibeanusi remarked.
The doctor advised mothers and members of the public to avail themselves the opportunity to access quality healthcare in conformity with the governor’s vision, stating that the delivery of baby Judith from registration to delivery was free of charge.
In her response the mother of baby Judith, Mrs. Lovelyn Obilor an indigene of Imo State residing at No. 26 Nanka Street, Mile 1 Diobu expressed gratitude to God, management and staff of the hospital as well as governor Amaechi for the gesture, stating that she and her husband agreed to name the baby after the governor’s wife. ###
