Bayelsa State government Approves Free Feeding For Students

In a bid to encourage parents and students in secondary schools in Bayelsa State on better education, Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson has approved free feeding to all boarding schools in Bayelsa State.

The governor made this revelation when the Senate House Committee on Education visited him last week.

The Governor who expressed his desire to see education strive in excellence in Bayelsa State said he will do everything within his power to encourage education in every way possible, pointing out that the special free feeding scheme will commence in September, 2013, adding that with this development no student and parent of Bayelsa origin will have cause to regret attending or sending their wards to school in Bayelsa State.

The special free feeding scheme to boarding school students according to Governor Dickson is in this year’s budget positing that this is a special way of waking up students of Bayelsa State origin. “Education is the key to state and society development and the secondary school stage is where adulthood incubates, the students need to be given concern and encouragement, one of the ways to practically show and demonstrate to the wards of Bayelsa State that the state is counting on them to take Bayelsa State to the next level is by providing enabling environment in the education sector for them? Dickson said.

“The students need to trust their leaders, and it is only when the leaders demonstrate care and love to the students that the confidence of students on their leaders could be maintained.

This government takes education as the tool in which Bayelsa State could build to achieve all what a state status needed to be or attained.

Any son or daughter of Bayelsa State origin who is interested in taking education as his or her life time affairs would be supported and encouraged by my administration”, Dickson explained further.

He therefore urged students of Bayelsa State, wherever they are schooling to make education their priority and be well focused. ###
