Police Games: Alwell Onyeso, CSP Abubakar Commend IGP

The former Commissioner for Sports and the present chairman, Post Primary School Board in Rivers State, Chief Allwell Onyeso and CSP Abubakar Aliyu of the Nigeria police force, have commended the ongoing Police Polo Tournament, currently taking place at the Polo Club, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The duo made this commendation at the ongoing Inspector General of Police IGP, M.D. Abubakar Polo Tournament, which is part of the 10th biennial Nigeria Police Games 2013, that is holding at different sports venues, in the city of Port Harcourt.

Speaking to The Newswriter on the tournament, which commenced on the 4th of March, to end on the 8th of March, 2013, the special guest of honour at the Polo Tournament and former no 1 sports lover in the state, Chief Onyeso described the tournament as remarkable.

He pointed out that the police has fashioned out a way for these officers to come together and relax their minds. Applauding the police for taking into consideration the need to exercise and relax the mind.

Chief Alwell, who refused to conclude on the level of turn-out at the Polo matches, stated that the game was ongoing, and emphasized the need for the police to do more work even though the game is not peculiar in the country.

He described some of the players  at the tournament as the finest Polo players in the country without spectatorship, using the medium to advise the Nigerian Police to continue to give their rank and file, the opportunity to relax their body and soul, adding that it will not be counter-productive.

In his contribution, CSP Abubakar Aliyu of the Nigeria Police, expressed gratitude over the day’s weather, affirming that the turn-out will improve, since the game just kick-started, with the level of information that had been sent across.

He commended the performance at the tournament and urged his fellow polo players to play safe have fun and improve their games. However, Mr. D. Daye Horsfall, who applauded the energetic nature of the players and performances lamented on the low participation and publicity and advised the police to use consultant to manage publicity and hospitality.

Other players that lauded the tournament and the outcome of Tuesday’s game, 5th March, 2013 include: Abdul Rahman U. Degereji, Operations officer, Daddo Maritime Service Ltd, Mr. Kamal Mohammed, of Build Well Plants and Equipment. ###
