The Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government election result recently released by the chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Prof. Augustine Ahiazu indicated that PDP won the Chairmanship position and the councillorship positions in the 17 wards that make up the Local Government Area.
A total of 126, 430 registered voters were recorded, but 40, 436 voters turned out for the exercise. The newly elected chairman, Hon Austin Ahiamadu of the PDP emerged winner with a total of 37,570 votes.
Meanwhile, an aspirant under the political platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Daniel C. Nwoko has alleged that in ward 2 unit 1, his ward, there was massive election malpractices, coupled with the fact that there was no specific time for accreditation and voting.
According to Nwoko, the out going councilor in ward 2, Hon. Harcourt Amuah and his boys openly ordered the RSIEC adhoc staff to release the ballot papers for massive thumb printing.
Mr. Nwoko further alleged that RSIEC officials were ordered by the acclaimed winner and PDP councilor in ward 2, unit 5, Mr. Kingsley Woko to release ballot papers to his brothers for thumb printing.
Mr. Nwoko further alleged that there was no election, in Unit 8 but claimed that RSIEC officials willingly gave their ballot papers to some persons for thumb printing.
To this end, the APGA councillorship aspirant noted that his efforts to call the attention of the RSIEC officials to stop the irregularities were to no avail. He is therefore calling for the cancellation of the results in ward 2 and for fresh election to be conducted in that ward. ###
