RSG, Alliance Francaise Partnership, Bridging Gap In Edu Mgt

Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says his administration will continue to partner with the French cultural centre, Alliance Francaise, in bridging gaps in managing educational systems in the State.

Governor Amaechi said this when the French Consul General in Lagos, Mr. Francois Sastourne, visited him in Government House, Port Harcourt.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, Governor Amaechi stated that “we are partners with you in Alliance Francaise, we’ll continue to be partners. This partnership is caused by the gaps we noticed in the management of educational institutions across the State,” reaffirming the government’s commitment to human capital development, stressing that “we will never allow any gap in the development of education because we believe that education is the bedrock of any society”.

Governor Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), restated that human capital development, security, infrastructure, transparency and good governance remains his administration’s policy thrust, noting that this is for the sustenance of democracy, assuring that the State would continue to maintain bilateral relationship with the France, commending French companies such as Schneider, Total, Air France, Saipem, ALSCON, among others for contributing positively to the economic development of the State.

Earlier, the Consul General, Mr. Francois Sastourne, had commended the State Government’s efforts in ensuring peace and security, stating that the “French Government has strong interest in Rivers State” because of the conducive atmosphere created by the government for businesses to thrive, pointing out that the visit would accord him the opportunity to assess the progress of Alliance Francaise, emphasizing the need for stronger bilateral ties between Rivers State and France.

The French delegation were later conducted round some projects sites by the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, accompanied by the State Commissioners for Power, Hon. Austin Nwokocha, Education, Dame Alice Nemi, amongst others.
