The Nigeria Customs Service, Area 1and 2Commands in Rivers State, have presented their revenue collections for the months of January to December, 2012.
In a press release made available to the News writer from the office of the new Customs Public Relations Officer, Area 2 Command, Eunice Nwaja, the command received a total sum of 44,441,836,728.00 naira from the Federation Account and made a total sum of 33,179,204,131.47 as non Federation Account, totaling 77,591,040,859.47.
According to the release, a total of 7.3 billion naira was generated by the command in the month of June, just one month after resumption of duty by the Customs Area Comptroller, Mohammed Mogaji U., which was adjudged to be the highest in the history of the command. The stride was attributed to the leadership style, welfare-oriented administration of the CAC, which made him an outstanding team leader.
Mogaji, has also attained an enviable height in the areas of realization of revenue target, enforcement of Federal Government fiscal policies, facilitation of trade through single window scheme and achieving 48 hours cargo clearance at the ports in line with the Nigeria Customs Service management drive for best practices in all spheres of its operations.
In his relentless effort to maintain the standard of revenue generation at the command, CAC Mogaji doubled his effort in the month of December, 2012, when he generated a huge sum of 11,863,685,440.61 naira, which was the biggest milestone ever, in the command’s history.

40 FT Containers—8 and 20 FT Containers—9, while Total Value stand at 147,240,690.46, total Duty—29,711,999.55 and total DPV— 176,955,586.01.
Highlights of Seized Goods include:
Mutilated Bags, Garments, Second-Hand Clothing, Soya Bean Oil and 2 Stroke Engine Generating Set.
Others are: Printed Fabric, Men Under wears, Motor Spare Parts, Furniture, Boxes/Cases for Conveyance of Musical Instrument and Pirated Books.
In the same vein, the News writer was reliably informed, through the office of the command’s CPRO, Mr. Harry, that a total sum of 456,693,603.1 naira was received by Area 1 Command, Port Harcourt- Rivers State; from the Federation Account, in the months of January to December, 2012. Pointing that a huge sum of 48,456,693,603.1 naira was put together as allocation and revenue generated, in the year ended, 2012.The PRO, also disclosed that a total of 2 billion plus has already been generated by the command in the month of January, 2013, which he attributed to the doggedness of the CAC, Area 1 Command and the first of its kind in the revenue generation of the command, according to Harry.
