AFCON: Nigeria Sacks Ethopia To reach 2nd Round

The Eagles on 28th of January raised the hopes of numerous Nigerians as they played with much determination to crushed their Ethiopian counterpart 2-0.
Much as the numerous Nigerians soccer fans are happy with the Eagles/Ethiopian result, much is still desired to be done in the Keshi AFCON Eagles squad.
The defence to the attack line up is still not biting as expected. The traditional Eagle’s wing play was completely missing. The Mikel Obi Marshaled midfield was not commanding the attack as it ought to play for the Eagles.
The Uche, Emenike, Moses and Musa led Eagles attack is still not the attack Nigerians know of the Eagles in the Atlanta 94 Eagles squad that made Nigerians proud at both continental and the world stage.
Nigeria was Lucky that Vincent Enyeama was at his best form in goal. The match against Ethiopia was one match that Vincent Enyeama was truly tested.
The Ethiopian attacks almost had their way with that match if not that the defence line coordinated by Efe Ambrose was a little above average on a day Nigeria needed a win at all costs.
Keshi too should be commended for the change he made to have let loose Victor Moses in the second half which informed the two goals that gave Nigeria her much needed victory over Ethiopia.
Playing Ivory Coast would be tougher if Keshi has a match plan that could keep Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba at bay. Keshi also needs to train the midfield and the attack line to be more mobile and purposeful in their approach to goal.
The midfield coordinated by Mikel Obi should be more creative as to position Emenike, Musa, Uche and Moses, who is a roving supportive attacker.
Above all, the attackers’ line should involve reading, timing, positioning and not depending on fast breaks alone to aim for their goal scoring chances. ###
