Armed Force Remembrance Day: Forces Remembrance Day: Legionaires Promised Improved Welfare

Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Edward Pepple has promised legionaries in the area of accommodation, vehicles and jobs before the end of this year.
He made the promise during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day held at the Bonny Government School Field, the headquarters of the Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the Bonny chapter of the Nigerian legionaries gathered to honour fallen heroes and aged veterans.
In his address read by the Bonny legion chapter, Major Boma, said that “Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration holding today 15th January 2013 all over our country Nigeria is an annual event specifically designed by the federal government to remember and honour our compatriots and fallen heroes for their selfless sacrifices to unite our great country, departed friends and fathers will ever be remember to uphold their sacrifices to our father land”.
Major Boma said that Bonny will join the Nigerian legionaries to thank President Goodluck Jonathan, the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Bonny LGA Chairman, Hon. Barr. Edward Ebenezer Pepple in their untiring efforts and determination to ensure the safety of all especially those who live and do business in Bonny LGA.
The legion chairman also lauded the commanders of the Joint Task Forces, the Naval Operational forward Base, Bonny, The Divisional Police Officers, the Director of SSS and other sister agencies who are working in the same direction with the executive chairman of Bonny to achieve this goal.
He also commended the Royal fathers and the clergies who God is using “to minister to the conscience of our people every day to be better citizens”.
Major Boma noted that “we are here at the instance of those who honourable and patriotic veterans that paid their supreme sacrifice and today others are still paying the supreme price on daily basis have peace and for is to be alive”.
The legion chairman used the medium to appeal to Bonny council boss to provide the legion with office accommodation, operational vehicle and employment opportunity to the legionaries.
In his further remarks, the Bonny LGA boss, Hon. Barr. Edward E. Pepple commended the legionaries for joining their counterparts in celebrating the national event.
The council boss charged them to live up to expectation so as to move the image of the veterans. According to him, “I will ensure that my promises will be fulfilled”.
“On the issue of office accommodation and vehicle, the council will provide before the end of the year and four of the veterans will be given job opportunity soonest”, the council boos added. ###
