Isiokpo: CKC Honours Mama Alikor At 80

Sunday the 23rd December, 2012 will remain green in the annal of Adanta Community Isiokpo, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State as when the Christ The King Catholic Church (CKC), Nkarahia honoured Ms. Dora Chituru Alikor with Ezinne (Golden Mother) of the church and community. Mrs. Alikor who clocked 80 years was honoured for her 60 year of selfless service to God.
The investiture which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life was described as unprecedented in the church and community. The presiding priest described the honoured as well deserved, urged the honoree to be grateful to God for his mercies.
After the church service, guests were treated to elaborate reception at the Alikor residence with musical rendition from cultural and Christian groups spicing the event.
In an interview with journalists during the reception, Ezinne, Mama Dora Aliko expressed immense appreciation to God Almighty for granting her the divine grace to clock the rip age of 80. She thanked Christ the King Catholic Church Nkarahia-Isiokpo for finding her worthy of the honour, saying she
was humbled by the gesture.
Ezinne Alikor advised people to always rely on God and serve Him in all their doings. She thanked all those who honoured her invitation, praying God to bless them.
One of the children of the Septuagenarian and the publisher of Treasure Base Newspaper, Port Harcourt, Mr. Dimkpa Alikor, while expressing joy, noted that his mother has done a lot, sacrificing her personal comfort to ensure that she brings up her children, adding that they are very happy.
Mr. Alikor stressed that his mother’s 80th birthday
anniversary celebration was the one he knew about, as she has never celebrated her birthday before, not because she had no money to do so, but because she has spent everything she had on her children. “This is why we feel very happy, particularly the honour of investiture of Ezinne done her by Christ the King Catholic Church, it is a triple barrel celebration. We are also using the occasion to thank God for her health because on two occasions she cheated death”, he said, adding that the occasion was to honour her.
On her own side, Mama Aliko’s first daughter, Dr. Mrs. Catherine Alikor Mpi also expressed happiness that they (children) were able to honour their mother to make her happy.
She recalled that her mother fell sick recently, but God headed her.
Dr. Mpi, said upon her mothers recovery, she decided to thank God for that, and they asked her to wait for her 80th birthday. I am grateful for all friends and families that came here today and the church for all they carried out.” She described her mother as a simple and typical mother who is always there for them and wished her many more years on earth. ###
