Bishop Friday Nwator, the President of Integrity and Faithful Ministers Network Worldwide and the Founder of House of Peace Ministries, Port Harcourt has vowed to take the leadership of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to court again, if what he called the rot in the system is not corrected.
Nwator made the vow over the weekend in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt, shortly after a 3-day seminar of his group to round off the 2012 activities.
The clergyman who said his major grouse was the refusal of the Chairman of PFN, Rivers State chapter, Apostle Zilly Aggrey and his Executive to obey the order of the court in appointing Rivers indigenes in executive cadre of the body(PFN),which he said informed the settlement of the recent crisis that rocked the Apostle Eugene Ogu led EXCO of PFN in the state.
Nwator said he was more irked when Aggrey turned down his invitation for discussion to possibly find amicable solution to the problem. The man of God said he will not hesitate to drag PFN to court if the issue is not settled.
He further alleged that some ‘fake bishops’ now swindle un suspecting persons of their hard earned monies in order to make them bishops in Rivers State, citing a case where somebody was allegedly made bishop in a canteen at Federal Secretariat as one of those mess in the clergy. Nwator also alleged that some Christian leaders recently organized prayers outside the state against Rivers State. These and more he said informed the establishment of the Integrity & Faithful Ministers Network Group to sanitize the system. Nwator decried the beggarly attitude of some persons who claim to be bishops, which he said disgrace the status of the bishop, thereby ridiculing the entire Christendom.
He regretted that PFN Rivers State recently donated relief materials to flood victims from Bayelsa State, leaving their Rivers counterparts to their fate, noting that this would not have been possible if the PFN in the state is headed by an indigene.
On the achievement of the Integrity Ministers Network so far, Nwator said they have organized 3 seminars and have concluded arrangements to spread the integrity message on television live, adding that their membership is growing rapidly with more people joining the group from Akwa Ibom and Delta States. According to him, they have also discussed with anti-graft agencies to put surveillance on those dubious pastors, who he said defraud unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard earned monies in the name of making them bishops.
When Zilly Aggrey was contacted on phone for comments on the issue, he said his inability to honor Nwator’s invitation was not deliberate. He said he has always been careful in handling issues pertaining to the Christendom, especially when it touches on elderly people like Bishop Nwator, whom he described as highly respected in the society. He recalled the role he played during his nomination as PFN chairman and wondered why he can now turn around to spite him(Nwator). Aggrey promised to meet with him soonest to iron out the grey areas.
Bishop Nwator had gone to High Court 13 sitting in Port Harcourt and presided over by Justice Georgewill to challenge the continued stay in office of Apostle Eugene Ogu, the former chairman of PFN, a non Rivers man whom he said had elongated his tenure. The court however advised that the matter be settled out of court on condition that the opinion of the Complainant(Nwator) be respected before any new appointment into the association, but this was not to be as another non-indigene, in the person of Apostle Zilly Aggrey was imposed as PFN chairman, hence the current face-off.
The Newswriter reliably gathered that the much awaited meeting between Zilly Aggrey and Bishop Nwator took place over the weekend, but the outcome of the talks was not made public as at press time. ###
