Dickson’s Clearance, Sign Of Rubberstamp Syndrome –ACN

The Rivers State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, says it’s only a castrated and visionless legislature that can certify the like of Dickson Umunnakwe, Gov Chibuike Amaechi’s Commissioner nominee fit as a member of the State Executive Council.
The ACN was reacting to the controversy generated by conflicting and questionable names on the commissioner designate’s credentials to which he could not give satisfactory answers, yet the lawmakers closed their eyes and gave him a clean bill of passage.
In a statement issued and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam said the discrepancies on Mr. Umunnakwe’s certificates were enough to disqualify him, but regretted that the lawmakers were unable to assert themselves because the candidate was nominated by their paymaster, Gov. Amaechi.
Needam noted that there was no way the legislators could be relevant or respected if they continue to see themselves as Gov. Amaechi’s appendage.
“We also regret that the only way Gov Amaechi feels he can reward his numerous political supporters and friends is by assigning very sensitive State positions to them whether or not they are qualify to occupy such offices against the overall interest of the people. If this State must move forward, this ugly trend must stop”, the ACN spokesman declared
