Ahiamadu Emerges PDP Chairmanship Candidate in ONELGA
Mr. Austin Ahiamadu has emerged winner of last Saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship primary election in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local government Area of Rivers State.
Mr. Ahiamadu polled 242 votes to defeat his rival, Mr. Shedrack Chukwuma Ogbogu who scored 125 votes.
Other chairmanship aspirants, Mr. Gift Chigozie Waerema polled 1 vote, Mr. Franklin Amadi 1 vote, Mr. Gift Wobulor 1 vote while Mr. Peter Osademe scored zero.
Those who spoke shortly after the result of the election was declared include Hon. Ramond Nwokocha the executive chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, Senator Wilson Ake, the senator representing Rivers West senatorial district in the Senate, Hon. Augustine Nwokocha, the Rivers State Commissioner for Power, Mr. Felix Ejechi, the PDP in ONELGA, among others. While commending Mr. Ahiamadu on his victory, they described the election as the most free, fair, peaceful election in the history of ONELGA elections and enjoined other chairmanship aspirants who lost at the poll to support Mr. Ahiamadu to enable him win in the forthcoming general election slated in March, 2013.
In his speech, Mr. Austin Ahiamadu commended those who supported him during the election and gave God glory for giving him victory at the election despite all odds.
He assured the people of the area of stabilizing security of lives and properties in the area and enjoined those who lost at the election to shun their grievances and join hands with him to win at the forthcoming general election, pointing out that PDP is a big umbrella that can accommodate everyone, assuring that he would carry everyone along in the scheme of things if he emerges winner in the forthcoming general election.
It would be recalled that Mr. Ahiamadu, during his submission of his interest at the PDP party secretariat at 23 Aba Road in Port Harcourt, revealed that his slogan was “divine change in ONELGA”.
He further disclosed that was priority wad total development in ONELGA, adding that he will specialize in agricultural and human capital development among others. ###
