Women in Rivers State have donated a school building as birthday gift in honour of Mrs Amaechi’s 42nd anniversary.
Leader of the group and wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Stella George Feyii stated this recently during a visit to felicitate with Mrs Amaechi on her 42nd birthday.
She stated that the gesture was in appreciation and honour of governor’s wife immense contribution to the development of mankind.
Mrs Feyii stated that Mrs Amaechi has elevated kindergarten literacy and education in Nigeria which she said has attracted both national and international attention as bedrock to economic development.
Leader of the women disclosed that the gift was necessary to immortalise the achievement of the governor’s wife whose commitment to well-being of families was worthy of acknowledgement.
According to her “we want to appreciate our mother who in her youth has offered herself for service to mankind and used her area of influence to affect families in the state”.
She described Mrs Amaechi as a role mother whose achievement would stand the test of time.
In his goodwill message, House Committee Chairman, Petroleum Resources Downstream, Hon Dakuku Peterside eulogised Mrs Amaechi describing her as uncommon Nigerian who has traded where others have failed.
He stated that donation of a school in honour of Mrs Amaechi’s birthday will boost the drive to promote early child education championed through a non-government organisation, Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI).
Hon Dakuku said the celebrant has demonstrated love and affection to Nigerians irrespective of their place of origin.
He called on Rivers people to continually intercede for the governor and his wife in prayer to enable them actualise their vision for the people.
Also his counterpart at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Blessing Nsiegbe said women in the state for the first time have been given a voice and witnessed the emergence of more women in sensitive public offices attributing it to the sterling leadership qualities of the governor’s wife.
In her speech, wife of the Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi said Rivers women have demonstrated love and affection to her family and added that the School building would renew her commitment and determination to do more for mankind.
Mrs Amaechi charges women especially wives of top government functionaries to give a lending hand to the needy and support the state government empowerment programme for women.
She added that the donation of a school building shore up number of the ESI Nursery Schools to 32 and pledged her determination to ensure that Right of the Child will be promoted.
