Indigenes Decry Poor State Of Bonny Waterfront

In recent times, in many God fearing citizens of Bonny and the Nigerian nation who travel to and from Bonny, the heart of Nigerian economy, have not shown concern about the poor state and death trap of the Bonny waterfront, Port Harcourt.
Many writers have written, even run commentary in different electronic media houses, but to no avail. Even some churches had entered into fasting and prayers to bring the attention of the government to the waterfront problems, yet no good response.
Sometime ago, this publication was able to have a chat with a prominent and God fearing son of Bonny, Dean Very Rev Richard I. Hart, his office at Bonny, in the headquarter of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The man of God said that, “for now it’s like good thing will come out of Israel, as NDDC has been directed to revisit the problem of the Bonny Waterfront-Port Harcourt,” promising to meet with the council boss to redress the matter with governor for quick action.
Dean very Rev. Richard I. Hart is the dean incharge of St. Stephen Anglican Cathedral Church, Bonny.
This issue came up last weekend at the end of the year party organized by the Ikuba social club of Bonny at the club’s hall.
In his speech, the chairman, Mr. Adonye Santos Wilcox emphasized the importance of redredging the Bonny Waterfront as it has become a shamble. He said that he had made appeal to some prominent elites of Bonny in position of authority to do the best they could about the waterfront.
Adonye said that Ikubo social club is open to interested members but that those with criminal misconduct will not be admitted.
He used the medium to send a goodwill message to the Amanayabo in-council, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple. He lauded the Bonny LGA E. Pepple for his developmental stride in the area.
In his remarks, the erstwhile chairman of the club, Warisenibo Arshley Jumbo commended the club’s executive and the entire members for their co-operation since he was away from Bonny.
He also lamented over the poor state of the Bonny Waterfront, charging the traditional Institution to urgently do something tangible with effect from the new year.
The club secretary, comrade David Allison, in his view, thanked all members who had supported the club in their own little way and charged them to be law abiding and always respect the club’s constitution. ####
