The Solomon Lah led and managed Gokana Unity Cup has produced P. D. Akere, I. S. Kogbara and J.T. Bagia football clubs as first, second and third placed teams in the just concluded Gokana Unity cup competition played at Bere Unity Stadium on 31st December, 2012.
Solomon Lah who is the chairman of the management committee of the Gokana Unity cup brought ex-internationals, namely Victor Ikpeba spotting jersey No. 16, Albert Yobo doning jersey no. 9, Jossy Dombraye Mutiu Adepoju, popularly called headmaster putting on jersey no.7 to grace the finals against politicians football club of Gokana.
The chairman of Gokana LGA scored the only goal of the match. The politicians FC paraded ex-seasoned stars like, the GM of Dolphins football club who wore jersey no. 15 and other notable ex-seasoned stars against the ex-internationals.
Before the politicians match against the ex-internationals, the Gokana women politicians played a match as a prelude to the politicians match against the ex-internationals.
The only goal in the match was scored by jersey no. 13 of PD Akere in the first half. Award presentation was made by Rivers State FA and YSFON.
Magnus Abe took the kick-off in company of Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju, Jossy Dombraye, he also lit the Gokana unity cup.
Best defender, the most valuable player, Suka Ezia, highest goalscorer, best goalkeeper were all awarded with cash prize. While the Gokana indigenes that represented team Rivers in the 2012 Lagos National Sports Festival in Abula, hockey and athletics were awarded undisclosed amount of money by both the Gokana council and Hon Magnus Abe.
The Gokana Team Rivers Athletes won for Team Rivers gold, silver and brozen in the event. Hon. Abe promised to encourage the council to produce more sports men and women as to build a formidable sports family for not only Rivers State but Nigeria as well.
Solomon Lah, the Manager and chairman of the Competition Organization Committee was commended for his astute managerial ability.
Solomon Lah on his part revealed that it gives him delight to contribute to talent growth in the area.
According to him, he is delighted that the ceremony was a success. ####
