Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has been commended for suspending deductions from Civil Servants salaries in the State till further notice.
The commendation was made by Dr Jude Onwuli, a staff of the State Civil Service Commission, during an interview with newsroom correspondence in Port Harcourt.
Dr. Onwuli described the suspension of deductions as benevolence gesture of the Governor and also the outcome of his meeting with Civil Servants later part of last year stating that ”the flood which ravaged parts of the State in 2012” added more burden to some civil servants thereby making the gesture a big relief to them.
He noted that with the increase in budget both in the State and Federal this year, there would be lots of improvement in the country and thanked MDAs for the Christmas packages to their staff.
Dr. Onwuli appealed to the State Government to provide government quarters, Housing and Car loans to civil servants in the State to alleviate their sufferings.
Meanwhile, the Administrator General and Public Trustee of Rivers State in the Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Otonye Okoye said ”every year people are full of expectations and make resolutions
”We had a lot of challenges last year, lost lives and property. I believe that this year 2013 will be far better than last year.
”I commend the Governor for the provision of N5 billion in the 2013 budget for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises to ease graduate unemployment.”
